Kosmik Brands unveiled a record-setting 286-pound infused gummy at an event to commemorate a fundraising partnership
Kosmik Brands is going big this summer. REALLY BIG.
In early June, the Oklahoma-based cannabis manufacturer, well known for its high-potency gummies, unveiled its most potent creation yet: a 286-pound gummy containing a mind-bending 939,700 milligrams of THC.
It is the largest THC-infused gummy every manufactured, shattering the previous record by more than double the weight.
The record-setting gummy tipped the scales at a June 13 event at Kosmik’s headquarters in Edmond, Oklahoma, celebrating the kick-off of summer and raising funds for a few worthy nonprofits, including HeroGrown, a nonprofit organization focusing on veterans and their right to use cannabis as a safer alternative to many prescription drugs.
“I think it’s a really great opportunity for both of us, in order for them to get exposure and expand their reach to veterans,” says Aubrey Wilde, Kosmik’s vice president of marketing. “It’s a great marketing standpoint for us to be able to promote the brand and do something fun and different that nobody else is doing.”
HeroGrown aims to reduce the cost of medical cannabis for veterans and first responders through donations and discounts with a network of partnering dispensaries.
This is the second year in a row Kosmik has worked with HeroGrown on a fundraising effort, having donated $1 per package of Rocket Pop gummies sold during a 2024 promo.
Working with veterans’ organizations has been a primary objective since the early days of Kosmik Brands. In fact, the company’s flagship product, the Black Hole gummy, was inspired by a conversation with a veteran.
Cameron Saner, the company’s chief operating officer, came up with the idea of a gummy with 100 milligrams of THC after hearing a complaint that some patients needed to eat an entire pack of standard gummies in order to get the relief they were seeking. The Black Hole gummies were the first edibles on the legal market to have 1,000 milligrams of THC in a single package.
The idea for the world’s largest infused gummy started with a conversation between David Saner, CEO of Kosmik, and Paul Vancea, chief financial officer of Kosmik, over a couple of cigars after a hard day’s work. They were discussing ways to stand out as a brand, and David asked for “four ideas by 6. Actually, make that six ideas by 4!” And that’s when Vancea came up with the idea to create the world’s largest gummy.
Previously, the largest cannabis-infused gummy on record came from Good Day Farm in Missouri, which produced a 135-pound edible in 2022.
Kosmik also reached out to Guinness World Records, “but they will not touch anything cannabis related,” Vancea says. “So, unfortunately, we won’t be able to get them here to do a Guinness World Record, but it would definitely be a world record.”
However, as massive as Kosmik’s gummy is, it doesn’t come anywhere near the record for the largest non-infused gummy: that feat is held by a Dutch company, Tanis, which made a 3,800-pound bear in 2023.
Kosmik actually manufactured two of the record-setting gummies, one to keep as a monument and the other to chop up and use for fundraising.
Kosmik’s high-potency gummies have become one of the big reasons for the company’s success. In addition to the Black Hole, Kosmik makes The Abyss, which has 200 milligrams of THC per gummy and 2,000 milligrams per package.
But beyond the potency, which is easy for competitors to duplicate, it’s the flavor, according to Vancea.
“We’ve perfected the art of making high dosage, really good tasting gummies,” he says.
The second component of Kosmik’s success is a wide range of specialty flavors, including the red, white and blue Rocket Pop flavor that was the basis for the record-setting gummy. Other groundbreaking flavors include Chocolate Strawberry, Banana Gamma, Caramel Apple and Peanut Butter and Jelly, all multi-layered gummies unique to Kosmik and big hits with consumers. Over the past couple of years, the company has won first-, second- and third-place awards for best gummies.
In addition to its home state of Oklahoma, Kosmik currently operates in six states — Arizona, Massachusetts, Missouri, Montana, Nevada and New Mexico — and is actively seeking manufacturing partners to expand into another two to three markets by year’s end.
“We’re looking for someone who’s established, who has a presence in the market,” Vancea explains. “The other priority is to have a well-established sales and distribution team, especially in the beginning.”
