Collaboration supports community health, housing, and opportunity across the South Shore
Massachusetts-based cannabis operator Elevated Roots is partnering with United Way of Greater Plymouth Countyto advance community investment and volunteer engagement across the region.
The collaboration combines employee volunteer initiatives, corporate sponsorship, purchase-for-proceeds fundraising to support local programs addressing housing stability, healthcare access, food security, youth opportunity, and workforce development — priorities that directly impact families and communities throughout Plymouth County and the South Shore.
“Local businesses play an important role in strengthening the communities they serve,” Elevated Roots owner Barznab Khan said in a press release. “This partnership with United Way allows us to contribute in a meaningful way — not just through financial support, but through hands-on volunteerism and customer engagement that benefits our neighbors across the South Shore.”
As part of the agreement, Elevated Roots will support several signature UWGPC initiatives in 2026, including sponsorship of the organization’s 104th Annual Meeting and participation in the Day of Caring, a county-wide volunteer mobilization effort. The partnership also includes coordinated employee volunteer days and co-branded purchase-for-proceeds events that invite customers to participate in giving back to local nonprofits and social service programs.
Amplifying their collaboration, United Way of Greater Plymouth County will collaborate with Elevated Roots to identify volunteer opportunities, connect employees with community agencies, and engage customers through in-store education and outreach during fundraising days.
Plymouth County and the South Shore region face notable growing challenges with housing affordability, healthcare access, food insecurity, and workforce readiness. By partnering with UWGPC, Elevated Roots is helping to direct resources to a network of local organizations that deliver essential services and long-term community solutions.
United Way of Greater Plymouth County funds and convenes dozens of community partners, leveraging corporate and individual support to address systemic challenges and strengthen local families.
“This partnership reflects a shared commitment to our community’s health and well-being,” said Dennis Carman, President and CEO, United Way of Greater Plymouth County. “We are so thankful for Elevated Roots stepping forward not only as a sponsor, but as an engaged community partner that is investing in the people and organizations that make Greater Plymouth County thrive.”
Corporate Citizenship in a Regulated Industry
For Elevated Roots, the partnership represents a broader approach to corporate responsibility in a rapidly evolving regulated industry. By aligning business operations with community investment, the company aims to contribute positively to the region’s social and economic fabric.
“Our customers and employees live here,” added Elevated Roots president Matthew Martinez. “Supporting United Way’s work means supporting the schools, nonprofits, healthcare providers, and workforce programs that sustain our communities.”
