Considering the endless lines of beauty products targeted toward women, Cyo Nystrom couldn’t understand the seemingly obvious omission of products focused on the daily maintenance and pursuit of vaginal health.

The revelation pushed her in 2016 to help start Quim, a company that strives to promote vaginal health and enhance sex through its products. In addition to products sold in California’s cannabis dispensaries, Quim also makes its Happy Clam CBD-infused topical for customers nationwide.

“We probably spent about six months developing the formula for Happy Clam Everyday Oil from start to finish,” Nystrom says. “We worked with two amazing women — Monica Vialpando and Jessa Blades — to identify the objective of our product and a variety of herbs with vaginal health benefits, and from there were able to narrow our ingredient list down until we found the combination and potency that was right for us.”

Growth: Quim has been turning heads since the company’s launch. Its products have not only been touted by cannabis media, but also been featured in major outlets such as Cosmopolitan, Forbes and The Atlantic.

The company’s products are more than just a critical success; Nystrom says sales have been steadily growing and customers are returning to both stock up on their favorite products as well as try new additions to the company’s portfolio.

Retail: Although Happy Clam has only been available since March, it is finding space on the shelves of major retail chains, sex shops and CBD-focused retail stores.

“We’re looking at mission-aligned stores that are able to reach our target demographics and are excited about the product,” Nystrom says. “We know very well that the best way to get a store to sell a product is if the people selling it are excited about it, so we try to make sure our retailers understand the importance of the product and are ready to spread the word.”
