Attorney Martina Jaccarino is forming a nonprofit organization for cannabis research and education.
Building Bridges for Cannabis aims to bridge the gap between mainstream industry and the emerging cannabis industry, while educating both cannabis consumers and businesses.
Jaccarino says her experience and qualifications are perfectly suited to launching this nonprofit. She has 20 years of legal practice in insurance, financial compliance and risk assessment. She has also spent four years in the trenches of Nevada’s regulatory system working with cannabis cultivators and producers.
She recognizes that insurance companies and banks have compliance obligations that are not centered around cannabis, but believes unbiased education can help move the industries forward.
“Cannabis is special,” she says. “We grew up with tech, which made us faster than the law. We are trying to come from the black market to a place where insurance companies and financial experts will feel safe to insure or invest.”
The nonprofit’s website — www.buildingbridgesforcannabis.org — is coming soon.
