Although Vanessa Gabriel, her younger sister Jade Gabriel and childhood friend Marc Lopez have only been in cannabis for a little more than four years, the trio started their entrepreneurial journey together more than a decade ago.
“Together we have built companies in the fashion space, vape space, peer-to-peer marketplaces, social streaming and most recently cannabis,” Vanessa says.
In 2017, the trio entered the cannabis space with a mobile app that allowed customers to pre-order products at dispensaries, skip the line and earn extra loyalty points. The company was acquired nine months after launch. That success motivated the team to find another opportunity.
In 2019, the team placed a bet on Drop Delivery and won big.
Drop Delivery offers inventory management, driver dispatch, robust marketing tools, a digital loyalty program and customizable e-commerce on one platform.
The company nearly tripled in users and revenue during 2020 and projects to hit $1 million in annual revenue by the end of 2021.
As CEO, Vanessa Gabriel provides strategy and direction, while Jade Gabriel, the chief product officer, designs all of the company’s products, and Lopez, the company’s chief technology officer, makes them a reality.
“There’s a lot of great synergy here,” Vanessa says.
Drop Delivery’s next goal is applying artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to provide clients with actionable, data-driven insights, such as targeted sales promotions of a specific product in a specific region, that can launch with the push of a button on the app.
“Everybody can collect data but it’s about what you do with it,” Vanessa says.
